Ephesians 3:17-19
“And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord's holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.”
~ Ephesians 3:17-19Paul prays one of the most beautiful prayers in all of Scripture, that we would be rooted and established in love. Not just that we would know about love, but that we would be so deeply planted in it that nothing could uproot us.
A tree with deep roots can withstand any storm. It draws nourishment from below the surface, from a source that is hidden but constant. In the same way, when our lives are rooted in God’s love, we have a stability that circumstances cannot shake.
Paul also prays that we would grasp the dimensions of Christ’s love, how wide, how long, how high, how deep. This is love beyond measure, beyond comprehension, beyond anything we have ever experienced in human relationships. And yet it is available to us, right now, in this very moment.
Let this be your prayer today: to go deeper. Not wider, not faster, not louder, but deeper into the love of Christ. Everything else will grow from there.
Lord Jesus, root me deeply in Your love. Help me to grasp what I cannot fully understand, that Your love for me is wider, longer, higher, and deeper than anything I could imagine. Let this love be the foundation of everything I do and every relationship I build. Amen.
