Matthew 7:24-25
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”
~ Matthew 7:24-25Every relationship will face storms. The question is not whether the wind will blow, but whether your foundation can hold. Jesus makes it clear: the difference between a house that stands and one that falls is not the absence of storms, it is the foundation beneath it.
A relationship built on feelings alone will crumble when feelings change. A relationship built on convenience will collapse when life gets inconvenient. But a relationship built on the Word of God, on truth, on covenant, on obedience to His commands, will stand through every season.
This applies to every type of relationship. If you are preparing for marriage, build your foundation now. If you are already married, inspect your foundation regularly. If you are single, use this time to build your personal foundation so deeply that no storm can shake you.
The rock is not a suggestion. It is Christ Himself, His Word, His ways, His love. Build there, and you will not be moved.
Lord, I want to build my life and my relationships on the solid rock of Your Word. Show me where my foundation is weak and help me to strengthen it with truth, obedience, and faith. When the storms come, let me stand firm because I am rooted in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
