Strength in Surrender

James 4:7-8

← Previous Day Back to All Reflections →

Today’s Scripture

“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you.”

~ James 4:7-8

Reflection

Surrender sounds like weakness, but in God’s kingdom it is the source of all strength. When you submit your plans, your fears, your relationships, and your future to God, you are not giving up, you are gaining access to His power.

The enemy wants you to believe that you must fight every battle in your own strength. But James reveals the secret: submit to God first, then resist the devil. The order matters. Surrender comes before warfare. Worship comes before the battle cry.

What are you holding onto today that God is asking you to release? Maybe it is control over your timeline. Maybe it is a relationship that is not aligned with His will. Maybe it is an old wound you have been carrying instead of laying at His feet.

The promise is clear: come near to God, and He will come near to you. Surrender is not the end of your story, it is the beginning of His.

Prayer

Lord, I surrender everything to You today, my plans, my fears, my timeline, and my heart. I choose to trust You with what I cannot control. Draw near to me as I draw near to You. Give me the strength to resist the enemy and the courage to walk in Your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
