Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
~ Proverbs 3:5-6Proverbs 3:5-6 is one of the most memorized passages in the Bible, and for good reason. It captures the essence of the spiritual life in two verses: trust God completely, abandon self-reliance, submit everything to Him, and watch Him direct your path. Simple to understand, profoundly difficult to practice.
Prayer is ultimately about surrender. It is not a mechanism for getting God to comply with our agenda, it is the process by which we align our hearts with His. When we truly pray, we are not informing God of our plans; we are surrendering our plans to His wisdom. This is why the most powerful prayer is often the simplest: “Your will, not mine.”
When we surrender our relationships, our futures, and our fears to God, something remarkable happens: He makes our paths straight. Not always easy, not always what we expected, but straight, leading where they need to go. ECO encourages you to make surrender a daily prayer practice. Release your grip and watch God work.
Lord, I surrender my plans to You. Align my heart with Yours and make my paths straight. Amen.
