Jeremiah 31:31
“‘The days are coming, ’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah.’”
~ Jeremiah 31:31God is the God of new beginnings. When the old covenant proved that humanity could not keep its promises on its own strength, God did not give up. He declared a new covenant, one written not on stone tablets but on human hearts. This is the character of our God: He makes all things new.
In marriage, this truth is profoundly liberating. Perhaps old patterns of communication have calcified into walls. Perhaps hurts have accumulated and resentment has taken root. Perhaps the spark feels dim and routine has replaced romance. God says: the days are coming for something new.
Don’t be afraid to start fresh in your marriage. New patterns of communication, new rhythms of prayer together, new commitments to pursue each other, these are not admissions of failure. They are acts of faith. God specializes in writing new chapters, and He wants to write one in your marriage today.
Lord, give us new covenant hearts. Make our marriage fresh and new in You. Amen.
