Jeremiah 31:3
“The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.’”
~ Jeremiah 31:3There is a love that does not expire, does not diminish, and does not depend on being earned. It is the love God declares over His people: everlasting. Not seasonal, not conditional, not based on performance, everlasting. This is the kind of love that holds the universe together, and it is the blueprint for your marriage.
In a culture of disposable relationships and easy exits, God calls married couples to a love that endures. This does not mean ignoring problems or tolerating abuse, it means committing to the covenant even when feelings fluctuate. Feelings are real, but they are not reliable. Covenant is both.
Let God’s everlasting love be the model for how you love your spouse. When patience runs thin, draw from His patience. When kindness feels difficult, lean into His kindness. When love feels like a choice rather than a feeling, remember: the greatest love in the universe is a choice God made, and keeps making, for you.
Lord, fill our marriage with Your everlasting love. Help us love with a love that endures through every season. Amen.
