Ephesians 3:17
“So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love.”
~ Ephesians 3:17Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians was not for success, comfort, or even partnership. It was that Christ would dwell in their hearts and that they would be rooted and established in love. This is the deepest need of every human soul, to be grounded in a love that does not shift, fade, or fail.
Before you can love someone else well, you must be rooted in Christ’s love. A tree with shallow roots may look impressive for a season, but it cannot withstand the wind. In the same way, relationships built without deep spiritual roots may look good on the surface but crumble under pressure.
Use this season of singleness to go deep, deep in the Word, deep in prayer, deep in community. Let your roots reach down into the love of Christ until you are so established that nothing can uproot you. Lord, root me deeply in Your love. Establish me firmly so that I may bear lasting fruit. Amen.
