Speaking Life

Proverbs 12:18

← Previous Day Next Day →

Today’s Scripture

"The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing."

~ Proverbs 12:18

Reflection

Words are not neutral. They carry power, the power to build up or tear down, to heal or to wound. In marriage, the words you speak over your spouse shape the atmosphere of your home. Reckless words, spoken in anger, frustration, or carelessness, leave scars that take far longer to heal than the moment it took to inflict them.

But the tongue of the wise brings healing. Wise words are chosen, not reactive. They are seasoned with grace, rooted in love, and aimed at restoration. When you choose to speak life over your spouse, affirming their worth, acknowledging their effort, expressing gratitude, you are creating a culture of honor in your marriage.

Today, be intentional with your words. Before you speak, ask: Is this true? Is this kind? Is this necessary? Let your tongue be an instrument of healing in your home.

Prayer

Lord, set a guard over my mouth. Let every word I speak to my spouse be seasoned with grace and aimed at building up. Make me a healer with my words, not a wounder. Amen.
