The Fruit of the Spirit in Relationships

Galatians 5:22-23

← Previous Day Back to All Reflections →

Today’s Scripture

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

~ Galatians 5:22-23

Reflection

Imagine a relationship where both people consistently displayed love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. It sounds like paradise, and that is exactly what the Spirit-filled life produces.

The fruit of the Spirit is not a checklist we achieve through willpower. It is the natural overflow of a life surrendered to the Holy Spirit. When we abide in Christ, His character begins to show up in our character. His patience becomes our patience. His kindness becomes our kindness.

This is why personal spiritual growth is the best thing you can do for your relationships. The more you grow in the Spirit, the more love, peace, and gentleness you bring into every interaction. You cannot give what you do not have, but when the Spirit fills you, you have abundance to share.

Which fruit do you need most in your relationships right now? Patience with a difficult person? Kindness toward your spouse? Self-control in a tempting situation? Ask the Spirit to grow that fruit in you today.

Prayer

Holy Spirit, produce Your fruit in my life. Where I lack patience, grow patience. Where I lack kindness, grow kindness. Where I lack self-control, grow self-control. Let the fruit of Your presence overflow into every relationship I have. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
