Song of Solomon 8:6-7
“Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot sweep it away.”
~ Song of Solomon 8:6-7The Song of Solomon paints a picture of love that is fierce, passionate, and unquenchable. This is not a casual, take-it-or-leave-it affection. This is love that burns like fire, that death itself cannot conquer, that no flood can wash away.
Every great love story requires a fight. Not a fight against each other, but a fight for each other. The enemy of your relationship would love nothing more than to see you give up, walk away, or settle for less than God’s best. But covenant love says, “I will fight for this.”
Fighting for your relationship means choosing to communicate when you want to shut down. It means choosing to forgive when you want to hold a grudge. It means choosing to serve when you want to be served. It means choosing to stay when leaving feels easier.
Your love is worth fighting for, whether it is a love you are building, a love you are preparing for, or a love you are working to restore. God’s love fought for you all the way to the cross. Let that same love inspire you to fight for the relationships He has given you.
Lord, give me the heart of a fighter, not against my loved ones, but for them. Help me to love with the same fierce, unquenchable love that You have for me. When I am tempted to give up, remind me that our love is worth every effort. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
