1 Corinthians 7:7-8
“I wish that all of you were as I am. But each of you has your own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.”
~ 1 Corinthians 7:7-8The world treats singleness as a problem to be solved. The church sometimes does the same, well-meaning friends and family constantly asking, “When are you going to find someone?” But Paul calls singleness a gift. Not a waiting room. Not a punishment. A gift.
A gift is something given with purpose and intention. Your season of singleness, whether it lasts a year or a lifetime, is not wasted time. It is a unique opportunity to serve God with undivided attention, to grow in ways that are harder to achieve when your heart is split between devotion and relationship.
This does not mean that desiring marriage is wrong. God designed partnership, and longing for it is natural. But it does mean that your value, your calling, and your purpose are not on hold until someone puts a ring on your finger.
Embrace where you are today. Pour into your relationship with God. Invest in your calling. Serve with your whole heart. Whether marriage comes or not, you are complete in Christ right now.
Lord, help me to see this season as a gift, not a burden. Open my eyes to the unique opportunities You have placed before me. Fill any loneliness with Your presence and any longing with Your peace. I am complete in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
