The Healing Fast

In Isaiah 58, God redefines fasting. The people had been fasting religiously, going through the motions, skipping meals, appearing pious, but God was unimpressed. True fasting, He declared, is not about empty ritual. It is about justice, freedom, and the breaking of chains. It is about partnering with God to set captives free.
