Psalms 27:14
“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
~ Psalms 27:14David does not merely suggest waiting, he commands it, and then he says it again. Wait for the Lord. Be strong. Take heart. Wait for the Lord. The repetition is intentional. David knows that waiting is so difficult, so counterintuitive, that we need to hear the instruction twice.
Waiting is not passive. It is not sitting in a corner hoping something happens. Biblical waiting is active, it is filled with prayer, worship, service, and growth. It is the posture of a soldier at attention, ready for the commander’s word. It is the posture of a farmer who has planted seeds and now trusts the rain to come.
For singles, the waiting season can feel endless. Friends are getting married, timelines are passing, and the silence from God can feel deafening. But God is at work in the waiting. He is preparing you, shaping your character, and writing a story more beautiful than you can imagine. Be strong. Take heart. He has not forgotten you.
Lord, give me strength to wait on You. Fill my waiting with purpose and my heart with hope. Amen.
