Romans 13:12
"The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light."
~ Romans 13:12Paul speaks of a transition, from night to day, from darkness to light. Fasting helps us make this transition deliberately. When we fast, we are consciously putting aside the deeds and distractions of darkness and clothing ourselves in the armor of light.
The armor of light is not a defensive posture alone, it is a declaration. It says: I belong to the day. I am a child of light. The habits, thought patterns, and attachments that belong to the darkness have no place in my life. Fasting helps us identify and release what does not belong.
What needs to be put aside in your life today? What deed of darkness, whether a secret habit, a bitter thought, or a compromised boundary, is keeping you in the night? The day is almost here. Step into the light. Let the armor of God's truth protect and define you.
Lord, I put aside every deed of darkness and put on Your armor of light. Reveal what needs to go. Strengthen me to release it. I choose to walk as a child of the day. Amen.
