Opening Prayer

Lord Jesus, we come back to our first love tonight. Before the busyness, before the distractions, before the hurts, there was You. Rekindle the fire in our hearts. Help us to love You first, above all things, and to let that love overflow into every relationship in our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

What Is First Love?

First Love symbolizes pure, untainted, and wholehearted love for Christ. If we ever feel distant from God, we can return to our first love through repentance, worship, and seeking Him with all our hearts.

First Love is not just a feeling but a commitment to pursue God daily. It is a reflection of God’s love for us. In order to love, we need to regularly meditate on God’s faithfulness and what He has done in our lives to rekindle our love for Him.

Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. ~ Revelation 2:4-5

1. Loving God First

Deepen your relationship with Christ, the true foundation of all love. Strengthening our relationship with Him daily.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. ~ Matthew 6:33

2. Healing and Forgiveness

Let go of past hurts and embrace God’s grace to heal and restore your relationships. Releasing past hurts and embracing God’s grace.

Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. ~ Colossians 3:13

3. Covenant and Commitment

Build a legacy of love rooted in God’s unchanging promises. A covenant is a relationship, one of the main features that God keeps bringing me to and that I see throughout the Bible is covenants (that’s also in our ministry’s name, ECO). Honoring our relationships in the way God intended.

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. ~ Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Christ as the Fulfillment of God’s Love

Covenant Love is becoming one. This refers to the enduring and permanent agreement between God and humanity.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind... and love your neighbor as yourself. ~ Matthew 22:37-39
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. ~ John 3:16

Closing Prayer

Father, we choose today to return to our first love. We repent for the times we drifted. We recommit to seeking You first, to forgiving as You forgave us, and to building covenant relationships rooted in Your unchanging promises. You are our first love, our everlasting covenant. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
