Opening Prayer

Father, tonight we come to learn what it means to truly love ourselves, not selfishly, but in a healthy, whole, God-honoring way. Before we can love anyone else, we must answer this question: Do we love who You created us to be? Open our eyes to see ourselves the way You see us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Do You Love You?

Before you can truly love anybody else, you must answer this question: Do you love YOU? Not selfish, but healthy, whole, God-honoring self-worth.

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. ~ Psalm 139:13-14

1. You Are Not an Accident

God planned you. Before your mama knew… God had already written your story. Before you had a name… God already had a plan. Before your first breath… God breathed purpose into you. You bear the image of the Most High God. You carry divine DNA. You are not worthless, you are PRICELESS.

God created mankind in his own image. ~ Genesis 1:27

2. Your Value Is Not Your Performance

The Performance Trap: “If I get the promotion…” “If I lose the weight…” “If I get married…” “If my kids turn out right…” The Truth: God’s love for you is NOT based on your performance. In the middle of your mess, God said: “I love you.”

While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. ~ Romans 5:8

3. Healthy Self-Love Is Biblical

Love your neighbor AS YOURSELF. ~ Matthew 22:39

Think with sober judgment (Romans 12:3), not too highly, not too lowly. Think ACCURATELY. Think the way GOD thinks about you.

4. You Can’t Pour From an Empty Cup

Put YOUR mask on first before helping others. That’s not selfish, that’s WISDOM. Even Jesus prioritized His spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being.

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. ~ Mark 1:35

5. Let God Define You, Not Your Past

In Christ, you are NOT your mistakes. In Christ, you are NOT your failures. In Christ, you are NOT what happened to you.

If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! ~ 2 Corinthians 5:17

You Are God’s Poetry

We are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works. ~ Ephesians 2:10

You are God’s poetry. His masterpiece. His work of art.

5 Steps to Biblical Self-Love

1. Saturate Your Mind, Speak God’s Word over yourself daily.

2. Guard Your Inputs, Surround yourself with life-speaking voices.

3. Practice Self-Compassion, Extend yourself the grace God gives you.

4. Care for Your Temple, Rest, nutrition, exercise, and mental health matter.

5. Receive God’s Love Daily, Spend time in His presence.

Speak This Over Yourself

I am CHOSEN (1 Peter 2:9). I am FORGIVEN (Ephesians 1:7). I am LOVED eternally (Jeremiah 31:3). I am GOD’S MASTERPIECE (Ephesians 2:10). I am MORE THAN A CONQUEROR (Romans 8:37).

The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing. ~ Zephaniah 3:17

Closing Prayer

Father, thank You for creating me with intention and purpose. I repent for the times I’ve rejected what You call precious. Today, I choose to see myself through Your eyes. Help me to love myself the way You love me, with grace, truth, and intention. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I am not an accident. I am not a mistake. I am chosen, loved, and valued by the Creator. I am God’s masterpiece, created with purpose and for a purpose. I choose to love myself the way God loves me. I am who GOD says I am. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
