Proverbs 18:21
“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”
, Proverbs 18:21Words are containers of power. Every word you speak over yourself, your spouse, your children, your friends, and your future carries weight. You can build someone up with a single sentence or tear them down with a careless remark.
In relationships, the words we speak are either seeds of life or seeds of destruction. Criticism, sarcasm, and contempt slowly erode even the strongest bonds. But encouragement, affirmation, and truth spoken in love create an atmosphere where relationships flourish.
Think about the words you have spoken today. Were they life-giving? Did they reflect the heart of God? Did they build up the people around you? Our words reveal what is in our hearts, and God invites us to fill our hearts with His Word so that what overflows is good.
Today, choose to speak life. Encourage someone who is struggling. Affirm your spouse or a friend. Speak God’s promises over your situation. Let your words be a reflection of the God you serve.
Father, set a guard over my mouth. Let the words I speak bring life, healing, and hope to everyone who hears them. Forgive me for careless words that have caused harm. Fill my heart with Your truth so that only good things overflow. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
