Lamentations 3:22-23
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
~ Lamentations 3:22-23These words were written in the midst of utter devastation. Jeremiah, the weeping prophet, penned Lamentations as Jerusalem lay in ruins. Everything had been lost, the temple, the city, the way of life. And yet, from the ashes of destruction, Jeremiah finds something indestructible: the faithfulness of God. His mercies are new every morning.
This is the hope that anchors every new day. No matter what yesterday held, conflict in your marriage, loneliness in your singleness, uncertainty in your engagement, failure in your spiritual disciplines, this morning’s mercies are fresh. God does not carry yesterday’s ledger into today. His compassions have been renewed while you slept.
Let this truth anchor your prayer life. When you wake each morning, before the weight of the day presses in, receive His fresh mercy. Breathe in the grace that is new, not recycled, not leftover, but brand new. Great is His faithfulness, and it is available to you right now, in this moment.
Thank You, Father, for Your mercies that are new every morning. Help me receive Your fresh grace today. Amen.
