The Pursuit of Peace

Romans 12:18

← Previous Day Next Day →

Today’s Scripture

"If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone."

~ Romans 12:18

Reflection

Peace in marriage is not the absence of conflict, it is the presence of grace in the midst of conflict. Paul's words are both an encouragement and a boundary: pursue peace as far as it depends on you. You cannot control your spouse's response, but you can control your own posture.

Living at peace requires humility, patience, and a willingness to prioritize the relationship over being right. It means choosing de-escalation over escalation, listening over lecturing, and repair over retreat. Peace is not passive, it is an active, intentional pursuit.

Where is conflict lingering in your marriage today? What step can you take, as far as it depends on you, to move toward peace? Perhaps it is an apology. Perhaps it is a conversation. Perhaps it is simply choosing silence over a sharp word. Peace is possible. Pursue it.

Prayer

God of peace, help me pursue harmony in my marriage. Where I have been a source of conflict, convict me. Where I can extend grace, empower me. Let Your peace rule in our home. Amen.
